CLY had the pleasure to work with the renowned watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer as part of their involvement in the John Wick franchise. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (directed by Chad Stahelski and with a screenplay by Derek Kolstad) is an American neo-noir action thriller starring Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Reddick, Anjelica Huston, and Ian McShane. In the movie, which picks up minutes after the end of the previous film, ex-hitman John Wick finds himself on the run from legions of assassins after a $14 million contract is put on his head.
After the first two chapters about hitman and car aficionado John Wick, exquisite timepieces from the Lucerne-based factory again show what time it is.
Of course, Wick can’t trust anyone – the Manero AutoDate is once more his only reliable companion. The ageless model with a white dial and black leather strap is inspired by classic ’60s designs – just like our (anti)hero’s beloved Ford Mustang. The three-hand model with date draws the eye to the essentials in the 38mm diameter stainless steel case and, thanks to its automatic calibration, the watch is always ready for action.
Halle Berry’s character Sofia combines femininity with hard-hitting action. The actress had prepared extensively for the role in intensive training sessions. No wonder the Manero Peripheral suits her so wonderfully – this imposing timepiece with its 60 diamonds around the rim combines subtle detail with technical power. The striking 40mm stainless steel case houses the automatic manufacture calibre CFB A2050, which is equipped with a peripheral oscillating weight – an unmistakable reference to the craftsmanship and innovatory expertise of the house of Carl F. Bucherer. On the finely shimmering, cognac-brown, real mother-of-pearl dial, the small seconds and date also ensure unmistakable clarity – even when the ride gets bumpy.
Alongside the red carpet global movie premiere of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the luxury brand Carl F. Bucherer hosted two cocktail receptions for celebrities. Because of our long-lasting partnership with the house, we at CLY had the pleasure of supporting our client with these special VIP events in New York and Los Angeles. As an event-planning and celebrity agency, CLY was responsible for the design, planning and hosting of the reception along with the coordination for Carl F. Bucherer’s guests in both cities.
We are very proud to have collaborated on a number of events with Carl F. Bucherer. Have a look at the Black Manta watch event we also designed with the Swiss watchmaker.
